As a half-Dutch and half-Italian beauty who is educated in five languages, Thekla Reuten is the kind of classy and sophisticated beauty that most men would love to have as their personal tour guide across Europe. While she’s most likely open to compliments about her wholesome looks (what woman isn’t?), Reuten has also made it clear that the whole modern image of beauty can be, in her words, “terribly superficial and boring.” By that, she means that while there are standards of beauty across our culture, people -- especially women -- should not strive to look the same. With most of her career -- and her acclaim -- having come in the European film industry, Reuten is no doubt content with her accomplishments thus far, but she’s also moving full steam ahead in her quest to successfully cross over into Hollywood films. With George Clooney as her most recent costar, she could certainly do a whole lot worse.
