Is Carey Mulligan Not Famous Enough for 'Glee'?

At 25, Carey Mulligan has already been nominated for an Oscar, is starring in the highly-anticipated Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and is dating Shia LaBeouf -- but it seems she's still not recognizable enough to snag a guest spot on TV's hottest show!

"I want to be in Glee," Mulligan, told the new issue of Vogue (on sale Sept. 14) "but I'm told I'm not famous enough to be a cameo."

There was no word on who exactly broke the bad news to the British beauty, and her rep wouldn't comment on her client's comments, but it doesn't seem like this was Mulligan's attempt in fostering her own fame. In actuality, the actress seems determined to keep herself and her romance with LaBeouf as far from the paparazzi's flashing bulbs as possible.

"Posing on the red carpet feels like you're selling something that has nothing to do with you," she explains of the decision she and LaBeouf made not to accompany each other to movie premieres. "If you do it with someone else, it's like we're saying, 'Oh! We come as a pair! Would you like to buy both of us? We're available for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs."
