Carey Mulligan developed a soft spot for actor Freddie Prinze Jr. when she was a teenager, and she joked that it's been hard finding other celebs to live up to him.

She said: “When I was 14, all of my school friends and me were absolutely obsessed with Freddie Prinze Jr. He seemed to be everywhere and in everything was my first celebrity crush. So it set the bar high, because everyone since then has had to live up to Freddie Prinze Jr.”

Although she doesn’t have any celebrity crushes now, Carey Mulligan does have a famous friend -- Keira Knightley.

The two young starlets first met while shooting Pride and Prejudice and have become even closer since making the critically acclaimed drama movie Never Let Me Go together.

Carey Mulligan told new! magazine: “Keira and I met on Pride and Prejudice, but we didn’t become friends until the following year, when we were promoting the film. We got close because we’re both the same age, we both live in London and have the same circle of friends. It was great to work with her again on Never Let Me Go but it’s funny because in Pride and Prejudice I only had three lines. To do something equal to her, where we’re challenging each other, is great. I feel so lucky.”

Celebrity Pictures: Carey Mulligan And Maggie Gyllenhaal

Celebrity Pictures:
Carey Mulligan And Maggie Gyllenhaal

Carey Mulligan and Maggie Gyllenhaal came out for the opening night of the production of Three Sisters in New York City yesterday.

Maggie posed for the camera with bells and whistles on but Carey Mulligan looks…tired? Upset? A little under the weather? Maybe she did just roll out of bed and go straight to the event. Maybe it’s just one of those days for the actress.

It really has to be tough to be a celebrity and be expected to look AMAZING every time you’re out in public. Plus, with Fashion Week right around the corner, I’m sure we’ll be seeing Carey Mulligan out in her finest, very soon. She’s considered a style icon, so I have high hopes for what she’ll be wearing!

I actually kind of like when a star shows up somewhere looking like a normal person, don’t you? This wouldn’t be a bad addition to my ongoing Celebrities Without Makeup post.

Carey Mulligan Is A Sensible Person

 Carey Mulligan Is A Sensible Person

I think Carey Mulligan is gorgeous, so it’s kind of funny to hear that she doesn’t consider herself sexy, but that’s exactly what the ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” actress told Britain’s Elle Magazine.
“I’ve never felt like a sexy person… I’ve always felt like a sensible person. I’ve always felt absurd wearing anything revealing.”

She also went on to say that the Hollywood trend of looking a ‘certain way’ isn’t for her;
“I’ve always felt different here. I remember going up for auditions, walking into rooms of girls in denim minis, with cut off tank tops, tanned legs, long hair and manicures, thinking, ‘Erm…’ But it never made me feel bad. I’ve never felt pressure to look like that.”
“I’m not trying to sell myself as a visual. I’m selling my willingness to play a part really well. If your body doesn’t look normal, how can you convey normal people, how can you be relatable?”
It’s so refreshing to hear a young actress say that! I love that she’s more concerned about her work than how she looks! Wouldn’t it be nice if we embraced that attitude a little bit more in Hollywood?

Carey Mulligan Saved Keira Knightley From Retirement

 Carey Mulligan Saved Keira Knightley From Retirement

It’s hard to think of someone retiring at the age of 22, but that’s how old Keira Knightley was when she contemplated retiring from acting. Knightley spoke to British Vogue and said;
“I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing and I felt terribly guilty about that.
“I remember hating the idea that I was in a privileged position and couldn’t see the point of any of it.
“I had worked solidly since I was 16, till 22, and I had not been on holiday in all of that time.”

Fearing that she might have missed out on a ‘normal’ life, the now 25 year old actress thought about finding a new job, until the opportunity to work with Carey Mulligan on ‘Never Let Me Go’ presented itself;
“I didn’t know if I was going to go back to acting at all. I think for a long time I thought I wouldn’t. I think I intended not to work again.”
“Carey’s a very good friend of mine and I felt if I was to start making films again, she was someone who would watch my back.”
Well working from 16 years old to 22 years old without a vacation is a long time, but I think that she’s pretty fortunate with what she gets to do for work. Not sure if I would be complaining about it!

Carey Mulligan's Hollywood Award Gala Night

Carey Mulligan's Hollywood Award Gala Night

Kicking off her week with an evening out, Carey Mulligan was spotted at the 14th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala last night (October 25).

The “An Education” actress looked lovely as she presented the Breakthrough Actor Award to Andrew Garfield for his work on “The Social Network.”

Later on, Carey headed over to the Chateau Marmont, picking up a mystery male as she rode off in a taxi cab.

Ms. Mulligan is rumored to be staying in a Best Western hotel after reports that she split up with beau Shia LaBeouf. (Hollywood Gossip)

Carey Mulligan Bored with Money

Carey Mulligan Bored with Money

Playing in a movie called WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEP clearly makes Carey Mulligan had to deal with money. At least, all the actors and actresses started to know the financial world. Surprisingly, this new experience is not at all interesting for Carey and she is bored with the money.

“We all have to learn a little about the financial world and the men began to invest their money in the real world and brag about it,” said Carey Mulligan who gets the role as Winnie Gekko, the son of Gordon Gekko, played by Michael Douglas. For some reason, although during shooting, Carey was always ‘connected’ with money but this subject does not attract this British actress.

“I am not at all interested,” said Carey Mulligan according to Splash News. It could be because at this time money is not a problem for Carey Mulligan whose name boosted after the appearance in the movie, AN EDUCATION, which got numerous awards and gave an Oscar nomination for Carey Mulligan. Is Carey Mulligan Not Famous Enough for 'Glee'?

At 25, Carey Mulligan has already been nominated for an Oscar, is starring in the highly-anticipated Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and is dating Shia LaBeouf -- but it seems she's still not recognizable enough to snag a guest spot on TV's hottest show!

"I want to be in Glee," Mulligan, told the new issue of Vogue (on sale Sept. 14) "but I'm told I'm not famous enough to be a cameo."

There was no word on who exactly broke the bad news to the British beauty, and her rep wouldn't comment on her client's comments, but it doesn't seem like this was Mulligan's attempt in fostering her own fame. In actuality, the actress seems determined to keep herself and her romance with LaBeouf as far from the paparazzi's flashing bulbs as possible.

"Posing on the red carpet feels like you're selling something that has nothing to do with you," she explains of the decision she and LaBeouf made not to accompany each other to movie premieres. "If you do it with someone else, it's like we're saying, 'Oh! We come as a pair! Would you like to buy both of us? We're available for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs."
